Getting to the venue

How to get to Glasgow Caledonian University once you're in Glasgow.

(picture: Main entrance to the venue)

Car

The University is easily accessible from Junction 16 (Westbound) or Junctions 15 & 17 (Eastbound) of the M8 motorway.

We had a very limited number of car parking spaces available, which are all now reserved. We will give permits to those who have reserved spaces when you register at the venue. If you are not disabled and do not have young children but need a space, please consider parking in either Buchanan Galleries Car Park or Concert Square Car Park. Both are very close to the University and the rates are available on the websites.

Rail

The University is situated within walking distance of both Glasgow Queen Street and Glasgow Central Stations (allow 10 minutes from Queen Street, or 15 minutes from Central Station). Alternatively there is a frequent shuttle bus which operates a circular route from Glasgow Central to Buchanan Bus Station to Glasgow Queen Street (5 minute journey time from Glasgow Central to Buchanan Bus Station), and this is free if you have a rail ticket.
Bus

The University is only 200 yards from Buchanan Bus Station. After arriving at the bus station, follow the signs for Taxis. Go up the stairs beside the taxi rank to the street (Cowcaddens Road), or for level access follow the pavement around the taxi rank. Cross the road and enter the gates (pictured above) into the campus.

Air

From Glasgow International Airport (GLA) there is a regular bus service from the terminal building to the city centre (up to a 10 minute frequency during the day, down to 30 minutes in the evening – timetable here). The journey time to Buchanan Bus Station is 25 minutes. Single fare is £3.30 and a return is £5. From Buchanan Bus Station follow the above directions. A taxi from the airport to the city centre will cost £18-20.

From Glasgow Prestwick Airport (PIK) there is a train service from Prestwick International Airport station to Glasgow Central Station, half-hourly Monday to Saturday, hourly on Sundays, journey time 44 minutes. Buy your tickets on board the train. Air passengers get half-price tickets (i.e. £2.70 single) if they show their flight confirmation to the train conductor.

Subway

The University is close to both Buchanan Street and Cowcaddens Subway stations.
