Large print Handbook

A large print / reader-friendly version of the Handbook is now available in the downloads section.

This document is in MS Word in the hope that it is compatible with reader programmes, and that users can change font size and colours to suit their needs. Hard copies of this document, and the Programme, will be provided at BiCon Reception.

If anybody needs these publications in any other format they should contact me at alison@deleted and I will do everything I can to sort it (time permitting!).

Workshop timetable revealed

Yes, you read that correctly, this year's timetable is revealed, and ready for you to plan your weekend ahead.

As you can see we have a very full timetable this year. I think I may have been a bit too prod-happy. But it's worked. 🙂

There is a colour theme in use, so strands can easily be identified for attendees, along with the use of symbols, for those who may be colour blind. Each day I have tried to ensure the strands flow and that workshops in the same strand never clash.

Themes for workshops this year cover the following areas:

Activism
BDSM
Community Fair
Fun
General Discussion
Gender
Relaxation
Research
Suggested First timers
Spirituality

For those of you attending workshops please ensure that you read the relevant section in the BiCon handbook.

Cheers!

Call for volunteers

Information for potential volunteers.

We're looking at drawing up the volunteer timetable for BiCon Reception, counselling and First Aid.

It is probable that there will be 4 hour time slots for volunteers and that we will have a meeting straight after the plenary on the Friday (i.e. at 9.50am) to go through requirements and procedures.

If you are interested in volunteering but have not yet let us know, please contact us at volunteers@deleted.

If you have already told us you'd like to volunteer, but there are times during the weekend when you will NOT be available, please also contact us.

We're looking to find out when people will not be able to volunteer so we do not place you in slots which are not suitable.

Thanks for your help and see you in just a few days!

Identifying Workshop Gaps

There are a few glaring gaps, and it would be wonderful if someone feels that they would be able to cover these particular areas.

I'm slowly putting together the timetable of workshops for the event. As you may have seen from their listing, there is a wide variety to choose from and some common themes coming through. I hope this will make it easier for people to identify which strand they wish to follow.

There are a few glaring gaps, and it would be wonderful if someone feels that they would be able to cover these particular areas. These include 'Monogamy and Bisexuality' and 'Transgendered', as well as flirting tips or hints for those of us who are flirt blind.
Are we missing anything else?

Please email me at workshops@deleted if you wish to facilitate these or any other workshops.

Community Info Zone

Is there any information you think the BiCon Community could use?

As usual, there will be a noticeboard (probably in the Reception area) with information written by community members for community members.

These texts will also appear in the Useful Information section of this site.

We plan to use the texts used at previous BiCons for is Community Info Zone, although they are not credited to individuals. The texts we currently have are:

  • Asexuality
  • BDSM
  • Bi-BLIO
  • Disability
  • Goth
  • General glossary of terms
  • London Bi groups
  • Mental health
  • Plurality
  • Polyamory

If you wrote one of these and wish to be credited, please contact me at alison@deleted.

In addition, if you would like to contribute a piece of information for the board, please send it to the above address. There is no word limit, although texts may be edited for clarity and consistency.

Sexually explicit material, or material which contradicts the BiCon Code of Conduct in any way, will not be displayed.

BiCon volunteers

An update on helping us to run BiCon.

Many thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help out at BiCon, whether for specific areas of work, or more generally.

This is just a quick holding note to explain that I should be in touch towards the end of next week.

It is likely that volunteers will be organised on an informal basis, but we will need to put together a duty rota for BiCon Reception and duty First Aiders / counsellors etc.

If you have not volunteered to give us a hand, but would like to, please e-mail me at alison@deleted.

Last day to book at BiCon

3rd July will be the last date to book accommodation for BiCon 2006.

Bookings which require accommodation will have until the 3rd July to book. After the 3rd, bookings will be closed. If you want day passes and no accommodation, you'll be able to book until the event or by turning up on the day you wish to attend.

People who wish to request which flat they are in / who they are sharing with / groups of people they are wishing to share with have until the 3rd to let us know at bookings@deleted.

After this date, no accommodation bookings will be taken and possibly no allocation requests will be taken unless there is a very good reason to do so.
